Zero Maintenance. Lasting Beauty.
Built for NC Weather.

Composite decking is the fastest growing deck material in Raleigh and for good reason. It never warps, rots, splinters, or needs staining. North Carolina’s summer heat, humidity, and UV exposure that crack and fade untreated wood? Composite boards hold their color and shape year after year with almost no effort on your part. You sweep it off and wash it once in a while and it looks brand new. For homeowners who want a beautiful outdoor space without spending weekends maintaining it, composite decking is the right call. The upfront cost is higher than pressure treated wood, but when you factor in zero maintenance costs over 25 to 30 years, composite often comes out ahead.

Composite Deck Designs
We Build in Raleigh

01

Single-Level Deck

The most popular composite deck build in Raleigh. A clean, single-level platform off the back door with composite boards, aluminum or composite railings, and built-in lighting if you want it. Most single-level builds are completed in three to five days.

02

Multi-Level Deck

Two or more deck levels connected by stairs for homes with a grade change in the yard or homeowners who want separate outdoor zones for dining, lounging, and grilling. Custom designed for your specific home layout and lot size.

03

Pool Surround Deck

Composite decking around an inground or above-ground pool is one of the best upgrades you can make for a Raleigh backyard. Composite boards stay cooler underfoot than wood, resist moisture, and never need sealing even around constant water exposure.

04

Covered Deck and Porch

Add a roof structure over your composite deck for shade, rain protection, and an outdoor space you can actually use through Raleigh's long hot summers. We build pergolas, shade sails, and full covered porch structures as part of a complete deck build.

Build Specs

Every Spec Built for
Your Yard and Home

Custom designed for your home, your yard grade, and your backyard lifestyle. Every spec confirmed before the first post goes in.

Footings

Concrete poured footings sized to Wake County structural code. Depth confirmed to local frost requirements. Every footing is inspected before framing begins.

Framing

Pressure-treated framing, joists, beams, and posts built to span and load requirements. Joist hangers and post bases at every connection. Composite decking requires correct joist spacing, which we confirm per the manufacturer spec before we frame.

Composite Boards

Composite boards installed with hidden fasteners for a clean, screw-free surface. Gapped per manufacturer spec for drainage and thermal expansion. Boards run in the direction you choose.

Railings

Aluminum or composite railing systems in a range of colors and styles. Code-compliant baluster spacing on every install. Cable rail, glass panel, and horizontal bar options are available at additional cost.

Lighting

Low-voltage LED deck lighting built into the framing and railing posts during construction is far cleaner than adding it later. Post cap lights, riser lights, and under-rail strips are all available. Ask about lighting at your estimate.

Permits and Inspections

Most composite decks in Wake County require a building permit and two inspections. We pull the permit, submit the drawings, and schedule both inspections. No extra charge on any deck build.

FAQ

Composite Deck FAQ

Most quality composite decks last 25 to 30 years in Raleigh with almost no maintenance. Trex and TimberTech both offer 25-year fade and stain warranties on their premium lines. The pressure-treated framing underneath is built to the same standard and typically lasts just as long. Composite holds up in North Carolina’s humidity and UV exposure far better than untreated or unsealed wood.

Composite boards do absorb some heat in direct sunlight, just like any solid surface. Lighter colors absorb less heat than dark colors. Premium composite lines like Trex Transcend are specifically engineered with heat-resistant technology to reduce surface temperature. In practice, most Raleigh homeowners find composite comfortable to walk on in bare feet even in summer as long as the deck is not in full direct sun all day.

Yes. Most composite decks in Wake County require a building permit and two inspections, one for the footings and one after completion. Any deck over 200 square feet or more than 30 inches above grade needs a permit. We pull the permit, submit the drawings, and attend both inspections on every deck build we do. No extra charge for any of this.

Trex Select is the entry-level line: good quality composite decking at the lowest Trex price point. Trex Enhance adds more colors and a more realistic wood grain texture at a modest price increase. Trex Transcend is the premium line with the widest color selection, the most realistic wood appearance, and the highest heat resistance. We bring physical samples of all three lines to your free estimate so you can compare them in person.

Composite decking is designed to be easy to maintain. Sweep off leaves and debris regularly and wash the surface a couple times per year with soap and water or a composite deck cleaner. No sealing, no staining, no sanding. For stubborn stains like grease or mold, a soft brush and a composite-approved cleaner will take care of it. That is genuinely all the maintenance most Raleigh homeowners ever need to do.

In some cases, yes. If the existing wood framing is structurally sound and meets current code requirements, we can remove the old decking boards and install composite boards on the existing frame. If the joists are spaced too wide or the framing is in poor condition, we recommend a full rebuild for the composite to perform the way it should. We assess the existing structure at your free estimate before quoting either option.

Composite costs more upfront, typically 40 to 60 percent more per square foot installed than pressure-treated wood. But composite requires almost zero maintenance over its life while pressure-treated wood needs sealing every two to three years plus occasional board replacement. For homeowners who want the lowest upfront cost, pressure treated is the right call. For homeowners who want the lowest total cost over 25 years and zero maintenance weekends, composite usually wins. We build both and will give you a side-by-side comparison at your estimate.
